Re: The Notebook v4.0

I just wanted to share that, after all these years, listening to Pink Floyd's Live 8 performance still leaves me absolutely speechless.

Crazy to think it has been 14 years since then.

Re: The Notebook v4.0

TIL that, apparently, Americans find the way Brits tell the time confusing. Specifically, I'm talking about phrases like "half six". I had never, ever thought that this could be ambiguous because these expressions are so ubiquitous in the UK. Apparently, to Americans "half six" instinctively means ...

Re: The Gamer Thread

Rocket League works both ways for me. Sometimes I play unranked games, and focus more on trying to be an airplane than a car. Then other times I play ranked games, and I'm pretty damn competitive. Zero skill, maximum effort. Concerning Zeldas, I think you and I are the same. I really appreciate Brea...

Re: The Leweit Music Thread

I have used Reaper as DAW, but used Melodyne's own interface for editing files. So, I actually edited the recordings inside Melodyne, saved the files, and imported those edited files into my Reaper project. It's a bit clumsy but gets the trick done. It is relatively easy to use, but don't expect any...

Re: The venting thread

Man, I feel you. The French used this tactic to eliminate the Dutch language from their Northern region, and it worked. A great asset of culture and history completely erased from everyday life, for absolutely no reason. I'm not even French, but as a Dutch speaker this pisses me off immensely.

Re: The Gamer Thread

Been playing through the N. Sane Trilogy I gave up, it's too difficult. I now am in the same boat. Holy shit that first game is difficult. I agree with the comment Alec made. This first game uses the "learn by dying" mechanism quite heavily. You can only finish a level by first dying a hundred time...

Re: Post-upgrade to-do list

Two days down the road, we're still at 194 accounts. I have the feeling that it's working for now, so I will scratch that off the list.

Next up: a nicer looking theme. Also, at the implied request of Dyolf, I will do some extra testing to make sure it's not slower than the default one. :)

Re: Post-upgrade to-do list

I have updated the registration page with a different bot filter. It's not great yet but it'll do until I find something fancier.

At the time of this post, the number of registered accounts is 194. We'll see how it goes the next days.

Woah, I strongly disagree that these were flukes. You gotta do what you gotta do, but I really enjoyed those versions.

I am still planning to participate. Someday.

These days I only really play the bass guitar. A perfectly simple black-and-white Jazz Bass. It's been my favorite instrument ever since I got it 2 years ago.

Re: Long downtime

I heard about it from Alec as well. At that point I had already done most work for the upgrade so I decided to just finish everything then.

Sorry about the fortunate/unfortunate timing (depending on how you look at it) -- I hope you did not put in too much work to save my ass. :)

Post-upgrade to-do list

Hello all Due to the full upgrade of our forum software, our custom modifications are gone. Here's a list (ordered by priority) of things I still need to do: 1. Done: Reinstate the anti-bot check on the registration page. 2. Find a nice dark / music themed forum layout. 3. Reinstate the word filter ...

Long downtime

Hey guys Let me start this post off with an apology. I can ramble on about how I have been busy due to work & travels, and while all of that is true, it does not really excuse the fact that I didn't fix our forum until today. What went wrong: in November I got a notification from our host that they'...

Re: The Leweit Music Thread

@Artisan: A Leysin EP will never happen. I refuse to release an album with 4 songs that all have the same chord scheme. Just nope. @Alec: That's interesting, because you are the main reason why I feel self conscious about how slowly I create music. I am at an average of 1 album per 5 years or so, so...

Re: The Leweit Music Thread

Damn, this is fun. I got exactly what you're looking for. But damn, I forgot I had that version on Youtube. It is: - too fast (thank you, studio engineer who managed to convince me that "It really can't be any slower than this") - sung with zero emotion in my voice, probably because I was nervous si...

Re: The Leweit Music Thread

Damn, Leysin... Which version do you have? I re-recorded it around 5 years ago and that version was quite satisfying to me. It paled in comparison to the other, more "sophisticated" songs though.

Re: Getting on Spotify

For what it's worth: I'm on Spotify, and despite the low amount of complete crap content, there's still nobody listening to my music. :D

I think this new development is nice. I'll have to check how to get into it, and if I want to get into it.

Re: The Leweit Music Thread

Damn, that isn't such a bad idea. I could even write + record a new song to get the hype going. I also keep feeling an urge to work on an EP, so maybe that's in the pipeline too. My only issue is that I already distribute my music digitally via CDBaby. Do you have any idea if it would be a breach if...

Re: The Notebook v4.0

To me it is the best example of how morally corrupt politics are in general. Scientists have established for decades that addiction is a disease that needs to be treated. Politicians completely ignore this, and treat it 100% as a crime. It is literally illegal to have a disorder in almost the entire...
