Re: What are you listening to now?

WHO - The Who. Their new album is a much better effort than their previous one, IMHO.

Re: Star Wars Episodes VII VIII & IX

Alright, so Episode IX was bad. Not as bad as Episode VIII, but it was still a huge snooze fest that derailed the overall story of the Skywalker Saga. For me, I'm just going to use Episodes II-VII as my canon movies and just treat Episode VII as a coda to the saga where all of the bad guys die on S...

Re: The Later Years boxset + rumours for 2020

The meat and potatoes is obviously the new remake of A Momentary Lapse of Reason . Is it better than the original? Of course it fucking is. [...] The strong tracks from before ("Learning to Fly", "One Slip", "Terminal Frost", "Sorrow") are even better [...] Well, here I must disagree. "Terminal Fro...

Re: The Later Years boxset + rumours for 2020

There's something in this box called " The Endless River video" which I assumed would be some of the weird nautical footage we saw in the "Louder Than Words" video and promos, strung together into a short EPK or something, but no! it is, in fact, a full 50-minute short-film to accompany the album (i...

Re: The Notebook v4.0

I miss everyone here. I miss the magic of hearing so much Pink Floyd for the first time, and sharing all of those memories with all of you. I know a lot of PFO and here had been Floyd fans for a long time, but I hadn't gotten on board until Summer '12. Even now, I still find new things in old favor...

The Later Years boxset + rumours for 2020

The Later Years 1987 – 2019 boxset So, here's the next over-priced boxset from the Pink Floyd cash cow. Contents: CDs A Momentary Lapse of Reason - remixed and updated. Nick Mason has re-recorded most, if not all, of the drum parts and Rick Wright's keyboard performances from the '87-'89 tours have...

Quick thought: the United Nations has determined that 5 million Americans live in "third world" conditions. I'm not sure exactly how the world sees America these days, but it comes out to 14% of our population living in extreme poverty despite being considered a wealthy global power. I don't know w...

When I hear an Englishman saying "half six", my immediate assumption will be that he means 5:30. Then again, this isn't even wrong if you take our time zone difference into account. :D
:D

Welsh follows the English too: hanner awr wedi chwech is literally "half (an) hour past/after six".

Re: The Notebook v4.0

TIL that, apparently, Americans find the way Brits tell the time confusing. Specifically, I'm talking about phrases like "half six". I had never, ever thought that this could be ambiguous because these expressions are so ubiquitous in the UK. Apparently, to Americans "half six" instinctively means 5...

Re: David Gilmour - In Concert

It's just his In Concert DVD, it's been uploaded to his official YouTube channel. I'm assuming the songs you're unfamiliar with are "Je crois entendre encore" which is from a Georges Bizet opera called Les pêcheurs de perles (David speaks fluent French after all) and " Dimming of the Day " is a song...

Re: Non-UK, non-USA music

I think this should change to non-English language music, as the UK and US both have languages which allow access to further traditions and cultures. I mean, being Welsh means I have access to Welsh-language music which, even though still "British" in a vague sense, is very different in some context...

Many things piss me off on an almost daily basis. This morning I awoke to see the following tweet from English newspaper, The Sunday Times , tweeted yesterday: "Should Wales continue to support the teaching of Welsh in schools?" – https://twitter.com/thesundaytimes/status/1087014103544139776 How the...

Two days down the road, we're still at 194 accounts. I have the feeling that it's working for now, so I will scratch that off the list. Next up: a nicer looking theme. Also, at the implied request of Dyolf, I will do some extra testing to make sure it's not slower than the default one. :) I use Saf...

Hey, he's coming to St. Louis! That's only a four hour drive from where I live, not too bad. And it looks like the cheapest tickets are only about $45 for balcony seats, nothing over $100 even to get up close to the action. I might have to persuade my SO to go on an adventure... If I hadn...

No, and I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd be surprised if he ever tours again.
I guess it has been over three years since the last album, hasn't it?
Yeah... where the F is my life going?!
