Favorite 'Rock Out' Songs

Post by Alec Taylor » Mon Dec 08, 2014 11:00 pm

Here's just a fun thread to talk about songs we love to rock out too. I maybe be a big softie that diddles around on feminine keyboard instruments, but I enjoy a good rock song just as much as anyone else.

"Keep On Growing" - Derek & the Dominos
"Not Now John" - Pink Floyd
"Caffeine" - Alice Cooper
"I'm Down" - The Beatles
"Larks' Tongues in Aspic (Part II)" - King Crimson
"Cry from the Street" - David Gilmour
"Suffragette City" - David Bowie
"Back in N.Y.C." - Genesis

And probably many more I can't think of right now.
"And if I show you my dark side, will you still hold me tonight?"

I probably have a long list, but I always turn tothis one when I need to rock out. Never fails.

That whole album works for me. Backstreets is good for emotional rock-out-ery.

I'll echo Arno's suggestion of Radio Nowhere by Bruce Springsteen and add the following:

Up Around the Bend - CCR
25 or 6 to 4 - Chicago
When the Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin

Pretty much anything by The Strokes, and anything off Exile On Main St. I can go with Led Zeppelin II as well.

Here's an old thread. I want to add "The Advent of Panurge" by Gentle Giant to this list. Right after the weird medieval intro gets over with, it kicks it into gear. It reminds me of "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" by Genesis a tiny bit, although this song has a much more sudden transition from soft to loud. Oh, and don't forget "Nervana". What a track!
