David Gilmour Live at Pompeii cinema event

From David's blog:

"Whatever you have scheduled in your diary for Wednesday 13th September, prepare to scribble it out because Live at Pompeii is being screened at cinemas around the world on that date and, if you can make it to one of them, I’m sure you won’t want to miss this special one-night-only occasion.

[...]

The film is directed by Gavin Elder, who recorded the shows in 4K and, we can all agree, did such a fine job of documenting David’s concerts from London’s Royal Albert Hall and Gdańsk Shipyard. Presented in Dolby Atmos, it promises to be a real feast for the senses."

It's also been updated to say that some cinemas are actually selling tickets now, but that's up to them. I don't know if I'll be around on 13 September or if I'll be in Spain on a holiday/wedding trip. Missing it won't be a huge deal, I'm obviously going to get it on Blu-ray or whatever ridiculously priced box set it's released as.

It will be awesome- can't wait!

I just read an interview with Gavin Elder (Pompeii movie director) and the amount of time and resources that went into the filming and production is unreal.

If you're in the States you'll see it after me. I've just got home from seeing it. It's not the whole show, only an edited down version, so you don't get "The Blue", "Faces of Stone", "Money", "Fat Old Sun", "Coming Back to Life", "On an Island" or "Today".

What, why? What the hell is the point of that?

Maybe cinema restrictions? The film was still two hours in length, albeit with a short documentary-style video preceding the concert showing rehearsals in Brighton.
