I figured I'd share some of the work I've done lately. 2021 has been a musical rebirth for me, I've managed to release some sort of material at least once a month and built a new YouTube channel from 0 subs to 75 in ten months. Feels good. I've got five brand new songs out right now amongst all of the VGM remixes and whatnot, but I plan on remaking my old catalog at some point as well (since all of my older material is now unavailable).

Moon - obviously a Pink Floyd rip off about flying to the Moon
Awakening - standard Alec stuff, very SunShadesque
Terminal Glow - silly cool jazz jam with synthy sax
Spend Forever With Me - psychedelic trance
More Than A Memory - pop music that blends real instruments with Sega Genesis/Mega Drive synthesizers

Fun times. lol

I've mostly been cranking out video game remixes (mainly Sonic the Hedgehog remixes) all year, and it's been pretty fulfilling. I'm going to work more towards re-recording my old material and putting out a solid discography to represent me. There are probably three dozen songs of mine that I'm happy to leave forgotten and unavailable forever, but there's just as many that I want to see really shine now that I've got a real groove going. I mean, I've released music every single month this year and I'm not even tired of it at all. I feel more musical than I ever have before, even back in 2015 at my peak as SunShade.

"Shades of Time" is a total remake of "SunShade's Theme" and "A Shade of Twilight", with every single thing better than before. No more empty passages, sound effect gimmicks, or block chords. It sounds like I wrote it in 2021 and not 2011. Remakes of "Discomposure" and "The Nature of Dreams" are finished and scheduled for release throughout November. I plan on making a concept album about seasons after that, since I wrote a lot of tracks about seasons or weather as SunShade and they all have a very uniform sound and style to them.

Nov 23 Edit: The remakes of "Discomposure" and "The Nature of Dreams" are out now. Throughout January of 2022 I'll be putting out full remakes of nine SunShade tracks as a collection of seasonal music under the album name Come Rain or Shine. It's the best they've ever sounded, and it doesn't include any of the weird filler tracks at all (which I've decided will never be remade again probably).

Come Rain or Shine is out (it's been out, I just forgot LOL). Nine tracks, all of them something you've heard before. Some have new names, some have their original names. But it seemed like a no brainer to take all of my "season/weather" tracks of yesteryear and make a concept album out of them.

Also, as an apology for my constant rebooting and destroying of my back catalog, I've finally decided to just let it all hang out. I've made a separate Bandcamp named Alec Taylor Archive that has literally every single recording I've ever made that I could find on my backup hard drive. The home page has the definitive collection, but exploring the full music tab you'll find literally everything. Multiple mixes for the same projects are here too, from the very first MIDI recordings on some of them all the way up to the latest remasters before deciding to start over. No aliases either, it's all just me.
