Bahahahahahahaha. We share the same priorities.

If you have a good needle, pick up Todd Rundgren's Initiation album. Side B is 36 minutes!

Mash-ups of Michael Jackson songs with Sonic the Hedgehog songs.

Sounds silly, I know. Us hardcore Sonic fans have always known and suspected that Michael Jackson composed the soundtrack for Sonic 3, and now that SEGA finally confirmed that he did write some of the songs and that he rewrote Sonic songs as his own later on in life, it's fun seeing all the ways the two musical worlds come together.

That's right; some of Michael Jackson's songs were rewrites of Sonic songs. What a fun story.

You should have made that the last song on side one and had a locked inner groove! Maybe we can do that with the single

LOL

That is the absolute best idea I've ever heard. And I thought the repeated line in the fade-out was already clever...

Tee Lopes - Console Wars (Startup Megamix)

Have you ever wanted to hear a song composed of nothing but the sound of video game consoles turning on with a drum beat? I didn't know I wanted to until I heard this. This is why I want to learn FL Studio, because this is a technical achievement.

Thriller, Dangerous, and HIStory - Michael Jackson

Three absolutely phenomenal albums. Hoping to get some of that new jack swing incorporated into my own style.

One of my favorite Spotify playlists, with the title:

Krautrock / Psych / Prog / Electronic / Avant garde

The title doesn't lie. This is a great collection of all types of experimental, progressive and psychedelic music that has something to do with rock.

After playing Until Dawn recently, I've been listening to its theme song, a reworking of a traditional (not sure from where it originates though) American folk song called "O, Death", which you can listen to here, on the YouTube if you like.

The Flaming Lips are really good. I've yet to hear their version of Dark Side Of The Moon - by all accounts it's a train wreck - but tunes like Ego Tripping At The Gates Of Hell are just beauty incarnate. Who knew beauty incarnate could come from the brain of a deranged Oklahoma stoner?

I recently went on a bit of an Amazon binge and bought a load of stuff (not all music). One album I bought, and I'm loving, is Cerys Matthew's Tir album.

"Dimensional Heist" - Tee Lopes

Because it makes me feel like I'm running at supersonic speeds through a psychedelic shopping mall in outer space.

Marillion - Misplaced Childhood

Don't know how I've missed this band all this time, the comparisons to Genesis are definitely justified but in a good way.

I have been morbidly obsessed with Something To Fall Back On by Todd Rundgren ever since I watched the video - a hideously gaudy display of terrible green-screening and even worse 1985 computer effects, all rendered completely uninteresting and excusable by a random-as-hell scene where he flails two pieces of foam rubber around his ears. I don't even care about the four yellow polygon clones getting turned to pink by Todd's horrible dancing anymore, nor do I care about the fact that he has two ponytails and looks distressingly like Dave Grohl in that Foo Fighters video on the plane anymore. God damn it, I want to know about the foam rubber.

The song is a 100% a cappella recording, enhanced digitally with synthesizers to make it sound more like instruments but still recorded only with vocals. I guess you could say the same for the video - a two year old's crayon drawings run through a digital processor. It's a cheesy approach for a song and he knows it (although I still think it's a damn good tune), and the intentionally cheesy video definitely complements that. But why the hell is he shaking foam rubber next to his ears???

Roger Waters - Is This The Life We Really Want?

Been listening to it at work the past few nights, and I've got to say that it's a damn fine album. It really is Roger getting back to his Animals/The Wall groove and ditching that stupid The Final Cut style. I'm really digging it.

The Cranberries - Something Else

Just phenomenal acoustic rock with some orchestration thrown in. And most of the songs are familiar too, but given new life.

For the past few days I've been listening to the 1981 radio dramatisation of The Lord of the Rings. It's very good.
